CLUB WATERS

BURRSWOOD ESTATE-LAKES 5&6

Located within the grounds of a Residential Hospital in Groombridge the club has the right to two lakes.

The Top Lake is about 1/4 acre & holds a stock of all general course fish & a few rogue Pike.

The Bottom Lake is about 1 1/4 acre & also holds a stock of all general course fish, with Carp to at least 17 lb but no Pike.

RIVERS & STREAMS

Located within the local area, the club has the rights to fish approximately 12 miles of rivers & streams.

These hold a stock of general course fish & game fish with Pike to 18 lb.

SCARLETTS LAKE

Located in Hammerwood near East Grinstead, the club has the rights to fish a maximum of six anglers per day. Night fishing with prior arrangement with John (owner).

The lake of about 4 acres holds the stock of most general course fish with Carp & Pike to over 20lb.

CLUB RULES

1)   That this club be called the Dorset Arms Angling Club, Withyham & annual subscriptions will be as follows:-                                                                                                                     

Seniors £30.00, Juniors under 16yrs £5.00, OAP’s £10.00, Family £40.00. An entrance fee for Seniors, OAP’s & Family of £5.00 & £2.00 for Juniors. Subscriptions will be due after the Annual General Meeting & must be paid by May 1st otherwise existing Membership will automatically lapse & re-entry must be applied for.

2)         All members must have a current Environment Agency License, which together with their Membership Card must be carried at all times when fishing & be shown upon request.

3)         That the officers of the Club shall be President, Vice-President, Chairman, Hon Secretary & Hon Treasurer, with not less than five committee men & not more than twelve, six to make a quorum.

4)         Membership shall be limited to 150 Seniors & 50 Juniors. Both Senior & Junior applicants must be proposed & seconded by a member of the club at a General or Committee Meeting.

5)         These rules shall not be altered except at the AGM or a Special General Meeting called for that purpose. The AGM date will be notified to Members at least 14 days in advance. Any member wishing to alter any rules must give the secretary written notice prior to the AGM.

6)         Anything arising & not provided for by these rules shall be dealt with by the committee whose decision is final.

7)         All course fish are to be returned to the water as soon as possible after capture. A day’s capture of Trout to be limited to one brace.

8)         That no Member is to use more than two rods when course fishing.

9)         a) That no game is to be disturbed

        b) That all gates be kept shut.

        c) That no rubbish to be left on banks including un-used bait. Every Member will be responsible for any litter  found within 15 feet of wherever they may be fishing at the time.

        d) That members walk on the edge of banks & not on crops.

        e) That every endeavour is made to prevent annoyance to owners or tenants by whose kindness & courtesy we enjoy our sport.

        f) That no radio’s, dogs, etc be allowed.

10)         All forms of ground baiting are to be allowed with a one kilogramme maximum dry weight per session. No unused bait to be deposited in the lake after fishing.

11)      Any fish entered as Specimen may be weighed on members scales, provided an independent witness conforms the weight, not necessarily a club member & the scales be made available to the committee if requested. The capture of such fish shall be recorded in writing by the next committee meeting in order to become eligible.

12)      Junior members under 11 yrs MUST be accompanied by a senior member at all times.

13)      That no fires should be lit other than by working parties.

14)      Working parties are no longer compulsory but if you want to attend please ring the secretary for dates & venues.

15)      No members shall serve as or be elected as an officer or committee member of any other angling club.

16)      All complaints must be in writing to the committee.

18)      For Pike fishing Snap Tackle is banned.

19)      Senior members only may purchase a day ticket for a guest Angler to  cover all waters . Tickets will cost £5.00 for Senior guests & £2.50 for Junior guests. Guests must be accompanied by a member.

RULES FOR FISHING AT BURRSWOOD

CLOSED SEASON MARCH 1st—APRIL 30th

1)         Members only to fish the Lakes shown on the DAAC map.

2)         Access to Lakes via the lower drive. No cars etc, to be taken into the Burrswood Estate.

3)         No Night Fishing Allowed

Trout Season: April 3rd—October 31st only

RULES FOR COMPETITIONS

1)         That each competition is controlled by the stewards who have been appointed at the committee meeting prior to the competition.

2)         The stewards will start & end the competition.

3)         The stewards will be responsible for weighing & checking that fish are eligible & their decision will be final.

4)         Pike are eligible for competitions if caught by other means than live baiting, dead baiting or spinning.

5)         Stewards at each competition may decide on one or two rods.

6)         In the event of more than one lake is being fished in a competition , further stewards will be appointed to cover all waters.

7)         The draw for positions shall be made 45 minutes before the advertised start time.

8)         All competitions are to be pegged & competitors must fish the peg selected & not move.

9)         At all competitions, anglers must produce their current membership card & rod licence if asked, otherwise cannot fish.

10)         Apart from the main lake Pike & Perch matches all other competitions are to fished on an all in basis.

11)      Points are to be awarded in the Fur & Feather competitions are to be fished on a all in basis.

12)      If a venue for any competition is unfishable the steward/s have the right to change the venue to another water provided the majority of anglers present agree. The competition will still be included for competition points.

Trophies will be awarded to the overall winners of both Senior & Junior competitions

INTER CLUB COMPETITION RULES

1)         The Warren Shield will be fished for in a competition against Crowborough or as agreed by the committee.

2)         Pike are excluded.

3)         A steward will be appointed by each club but can also fish the competition. The stewards decisions will be final.

4)         Only one rod per angler with float or ledger methods only.

5)         All fish are to be returned to the water after weighing.

6)         The winner will hold the shield until July 1st when it will be returned to the Dorset Arms Angling Club.

The following trophies can be won by DAAC members each season:

Seniors: Trout Cup, Carp Cup, Bream Cup, Roach Cup, Rudd Cup, Tench Cup, Clubman Cup, Specimen Cup & Pike Tankard.

Juniors under 11yrs & 11– 16yrs: Specimen Cups

In addition there will be a Shield presented to the Junior catching the best specimen of a species to be named annually.
